ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT (EIA)

Developments in environmentally-sensitive locations require environmental impact assessments which frequently call for a section on archaeology and the historic environment. These are very detailed assessments which evaluate whether a development site might include features of archaeological and heritage significance. They often require fieldwork, such as fieldwalking, geophysical survey and trial trenching, to provide the planning authority with comprehensive information.
